Counselor talking to a group of students

The SAIT Peer Assistance and Leadership (PAL) Mentorship Program is an opportunity for SAIT students to network with their peers, engage in campus life and gain valuable hands-on skills and experience in a variety of professional and academic areas.

The PAL program matches first year students with experienced peer mentors who will provide guidance and support through the non-academic issues students face. Through training workshops and mentorship meetings, students will develop skills and experience in leadership, collaboration, self-awareness, communication, professionalism, critical thinking and problem-solving.

Student retention is an important priority at SAIT and is strongly influenced by student success. Through a structured mentorship relationship, students in the PAL Program are given an opportunity to engage with the SAIT community, build relationships with their peers and various support services and experience positive interactions with SAIT – all of which are key aspects in SAIT’s definition of student success.

The PAL program facilitates a smooth, successful transition for new students into SAIT and provides returning students an opportunity to learn and practice valuable skills in guiding their new peers. Implementation of the skills gained through the program will not only assist students in reaching their personal and academic goals at SAIT, but are essential to a successful and fulfilling career in the industry.

Students enrolled in full-time diploma or bachelor programs at SAIT are eligible to apply as a peer mentor or mentee. Students must attend a training session offered Sept. 9 – 14, 2017 in order to be eligible for the 2017/2018 PAL program.

Please direct students to our webpage or have them email [email protected] for more information and to register for a training session.
